Time does not matter: All meals should have ample fiber in what you eat. Fruits , veggies and cereals(breakfast time) is a good opportunity to load up on fiber but it works well anytime you eat and with any meals.

Fiber and Stanols: 1. Plant stanol margarine (take control / benechol) can lower bad cholesterol by 15%.

2. Soluble fiber products that contain psyllium (metamucil; 2-3 servings/day) can lower cholesterol by 10%.

3. Some soy products like tofu and soy nuts and milk may slightly lower cholesterol.

4. Replace saturated and trans fat (animal/ dairy/processed food) with unsaturated vegetable fat.

5. Cut back on salt.

Colic or teething: Oatmeal is a bland cereal and is least likely to cause problems. At this she is probably teething and you maybe mistaking teething for colic. In general infants outgrow colic by three months of age.

Breast milk: Breast milk is the best.  Baby doesn't need any extra water at this age, but can be a method to introduce your child to the cup.  I'm so glad to hear that you are breast feeding.  This is the perfect food for your baby.  We pediatricians recommend breast milk for the first 12 months of age, at a minimum.

Yes: Traditionally prepared oatmeal is very healthy food, not instant oatmeal. Take 10 to 15 min to prepare it, add slices of banana, blueberries & strawberries. Organic honey, a teaspoon of organic coconut oil with ground cinnamon can be added & it will make a perfect breakfast together with a cup of black coffee or tea without sugar. Yummy yummy!

A "serving": is usually meant to be a bowl for cereals of which oatmeal is a very popular item. There is some evidence that oatmeal may reduce the total cholesterol including the LDL (heart affecting)
