i would like to try magnesium supplement. what is the difference between magnesium sulfate, oxide, gluconate and aspartate. are they all the same?

No: The sulfate & oxide are magnesium attached to inorganic molecules. They are not harmful, but inadequately absorbed.  Oratate, gluconate, & aspartic acid are natural organic amino acids, which effect much greater absorption & magnesium release in the body.  These organic forms are more expensive but worth it.  A formulation that releases about "500 mg of elemental magnesium" is a good daily dose.

Here are some ...: It's possible from what reported. But, you may recycle taking it for 2-3 times off and on for 1-2 weeks each and observe what you may see so to confirm the relationship to get the answer for your question.

Could be: magnesium has muscle relaxation effects generally, which can be helpful with the tension from anxiety, &amp; can promote better sleep.  There are different magnesium compounds (mag oxide, mag Glycinate, etc)&amp; they are absorbed differently but would probably have similar effects on anxiety in the long run.

: Both are well absorbed into the body. The glycinate version may be a bit more sedating. But while both may be somewhat helpful for anxiety, they are unlikely to be sufficient on their own, so please work with your doctor on a comprehensive anxiety management plan.

350mg/day: The National Institutes of Health suggests an upper limit of 350mg/day of magnesium in dietary supplements &amp; medications for adults because magnesium is in many foods. The daily recommended amount which includes magnesium content in food is 400-420mg for men. Legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and green leafy vegetables (such as spinach), milk &amp; yogurt &amp; fortified cereals are high in magnesium.

i took 800mg of magnesium by accident. is this okay? i am taking it to help me with my anxiety. i heard very high doses of magnesium can be fatal!
