my 9 year old son c/o sudden, sharp, luq pain that radiates laterally to anteriorly - can't lay flat and hurts to move.  what could it be?

LUQ anatomy: Anatomically, the left upper quadrant (luq) of abdomen includes: spleen, pancreatic tail, stomach, descending duodenum, splenic flexure of the colon, associated vessels. Don't forget the diaphragm, heart, and lower chest are pretty close by. The abdominal musculature, ribs, and skin can all contribute as well to localizing luq pain. Get him examined now please for clarity of diagnosis &amp; treatment.

multiple causes: Difficult to diagnose without knowing other associated causes. It could be simple gastritis, muscle pain to diverticulitis. Consult you gyn.

This could: be due to GAS collected in the SPLENIC flexure ( The TURN the colon takes in the left upper quadrant see diagram)...this often occurs in RUNNERS since any bowel gas "seeks" the highest level in the colon when you are upright) In runners it's often called a "stitch"

luq pain with jarring, sitting in hard surfaces, and after large meals. onset: 1 year ago. symptoms are worsening. what might this be?

Exam needed: And more history. Visiting your doctor a good place to start.  There are a couple of organs in that region and any of them can be the reason.  Your stomach is one of those organs.

been passing small strings of mucus for 4 days. no stool was present for 3 days. lots of urgency but just mucus. diet is clean & luq pain. why?

If no better soon&gt;Dr: Assuming you haven't had any previous chronic bowl problems it's possible you may have a mild viral gastroenteritis. But that might not explain your LUQ pain. If the problem doesn't resolve over the next few days (I hope it does), or if the pain is significant, you need to be seen by a physician for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Nonspecific : The symptoms you describe are too nonspecific. Amylase and lipase levels rarely correlate with pancreatic cancer. You're very young to have pancreatic cancer. Is there a family history or other reason you are concerned?
In general, however, persistent pain warrants further investigation.

Watch what you eat: If colonoscopy is ok that will rule out cancer on the colon. You still have possible fissure . Keep your bowel soft and avoid food with nutts or seeds

There is: an interesting " condition" (or "syndrome") called "Splenic Flexure Syndrome"  The splenic flexure is the BEND that your COLON takes on the way down to your rectum and its located under the SPLEEN ( Thus the word"splenic") GAS COLLECTS THERE, distending the bowel thus causing pain. RUNNING makes this worse (often called a "stitch" in the side)

No: Of this is a new finding that wasn't seen on previous us then could be early sign or stable abruption
