how often should you have colonoscopy? i have a lot of lower abdominal pain.

Accepted Answer

Depends: If you are over 50 and have no prior hx or family history of colon polyps or cancer or inflammatory bowel disease, the current recommendations are once every 10 years. If any of the above are positive it should be more often, at least every 5 years and maybe more often depending on your specific risk factors. Abdominal pain, in of  itself, is not an indication for colonoscopy in my opinion.

could front right lower abdominal pain be caused by endometriosos? my gi doesn't think its a gi problem same with my gyno and a colonoscopy was fine.

Best see GP: Sometimes situations like this one require a broader, more holistic perspective, such as what you would get from your pediatrician, internist or gp.  Check out your concerns with your generalist.

Probably gas residual and cramping and should pass, but if not quickly see your GI

Call your doctor: While no fever, sweating and  freezing may  be indicative of having chills, which are often symptoms of an inflammatory process going on.  Since you are also having abdominal pain post procedure, it is important to call and let your doctor know about your symptoms immediately.

constipation, thin stools, bloating pain, gassy, lower abdominal pain for months, sometimes diarrhea, and sometimes normal poop.. color of poop usually yellowish ..light brown, having colonoscopy in 2 days? does this sound like cancer? 25 m?

Doctor can evaluate: Many things are in the abdomen:  stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, gall bladder, appendix, large intestine, abdominal muscles, kidneys, etc...  An exam by a primary care doctor can help figure things out. Pain in the right upper abdomen can be due to gallstones. Pain in the right lower abdomen can be appendicitis. Stomach flu, food poisoning, other infections, etc., can also cause pain.

See your doctor: This is a problem that necessitates a face-to-face meeting with your doctor.  This will allow him/her to examine you, ask specific questions. And possibly order tests to find out what's wrong and what to do to help you.

Doctor can evaluate: Abdominal pain can be from many things. Stomach acid problems cause pain, as does pancreatitis or gallstones. Appendicitis is always a concern (pain is usually right lower abdomen, worsens over time, with fever coming on). If constipated for a while, stool could have backed up and cause pain. Gastrointestinal infections can cause pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever. A doctor's exam may be needed.

hello, i'm 15 weeks pregnant and have had stomach ache ( not lower abdominal pain) could this be my organs being pushed upwards due to my growing baby?

Hard to say: Pregnant women often experience a variety of discomforts. They also experience periodic digestive disturbances. They are also prone to bladder infections. When pregnant women experience pain it is important to have it evaluated in person with your doctor to determine if a clear cause can be identified.
