Red marrow: reconversion occurs when areas of normal adult yellow marrow(non blood cell producing) change to red marrow(blood cell producing).  This can occur in response to various conditions that increase the demand for oxygen-carrying red blood cells: chronic hypoxic states(smoking/COPD), high altitudes, high level athletes, and various anemias. Talk to your doc about what the results mean in your case.

MDS Erythroid Progen: An MDS diagnosis requires ≥ 10% of bone marrow cells showing abnormal (dysplastic) maturation. (Attached image shows erythroid dyspl). The number of cells (red, white, megakaryocytes) can be high or low. Some clarification of RBC is needed. Low number of erythroid progenitors, as the only finding, can be due to many other issues: sampling artifact, parvovirus infection, pure red cell aplasia, etc.

Aplasia: Aplastic implies no RBC production.  Sounds like your dad has impaired RBC production but not true aplasia.

i had bone marrow biopsy and chromosome- crytogenics and fish testing done because of anemia rbc and platelets were low. platelets restored but rbc did not. my test were all normal. could i have chronic myeloid leukemia or would it be seen in testing?

It seems like you have consulted a hematologist who did Cytogenetic and FISH studies. These should have provided an answer to the cause of your low CBC numbers. To specifically address your question  about you having Chronic Myeloid leukemia(CML), I doubt it very much because CML manifests as high white blood cell(WBC) count and a cytogenetic abnormality call Philadelphia chromosome.

i have low epo output and extremely low iron stores in bone marrow(aspiration done). chronic anemia-can be as low as 6.2-8.2 on regular basis can this affect my teeth? it seems since my dx 8-10 yrs ago i have had terrible tooth decay and poor gums. of cor

Possibilities: It could make you more susceptible to gums disease. It shouldn't affect your teeth unless something you are taking is causing dry mouth. Things that could affect your susceptibility to decay are menopause, vomiting, and heart burn.

You don't have to have problems if you take care of your teeth.

It should help: Blood tansfusion should help. However, it will last only for a short period of time. It will be shorter time if you have active bleeding. You should get your  treatment started asap- off course, with the support of blood transfusion and growth support.  Eventually, when the cancer is in better controlled under treatment, your bone marrow hopefully would gradually hwork again.

how does rods placed into the bone effect bone marrow?  if bone marrow loss is a result of this condition, would that also cause anemia?

Probably not: Much.  In the common situation where a rod is placed in the femur to stabilize a serious fracture there would be effacement of some bone marrow, but not enough in of itself to cause a deficit in rbc production leading to anemia.  

The fracture itself and the surgery could result in low HGB shortly after the injury.
