just started mirtazapine 7.5 mg after stopping lexapro 10mg. feeling very drowsy. does this side effect get better? what are some of the side effect of being on 7.5 mg? is this stronger than lexapro?

: Mirtazapine definitely causes drowsiness and it should be taken at night. If you take it at night, the drowsiness is typically gone by morning. The dose you are on is a low dose. If after taking it at night you are still experiencing daytime drowsiness, let your doctor know. It does cause more drowsiness than Lexapro. Good luck to you!

Doctor can evaluate: A person on a drug for 10 months at the same dose, and then starts to have drowsiness that persists, should see the doctor for re-evaluation. Maybe the medicine has gradually affected the person's blood count or chemistry. Maybe the patient began a new medicine, supplement, diet, etc... Depression comes and goes; maybe different dosing is needed. Maybe symptoms have nothing to do with the lexapro (escitalopram).

Side effects : Expect transmit adverse events to last 7-14 dats. If concerns persist beyond that acid it are significantly bother dive then consult  with BD

im prescribed 10mg of lexapro 1 per day and 1mg of  klonopin 2 per day. i noticed taking 1mg of klonopin in the morning was making me too drowsy, so today i took .5mg it klonopin. will it be safe for me still take the 1mg tonight as my evening dose?

Benzodiazepine use:  I try to avoid prescribing for chronic benzodizapines (such as Klonopin) for my patients. Klonopin can be VERY sedating.  I would consult with your doctor if you are changing the amount of medication you take. Sedating medications are usually safer if you take them right before bedtime.

can you take 30 mg of non drowsy sudafed  with lexapro (escitalopram) and probiotic?

Accepted Answer

Yes: A drug interaction shows no interactions between Lexapro (escitalopram)  and sudafed. The probiotic will not effect either medication.

i took diphenhydramine hci 25 mg... antihistamine (benedryl)  about 20 minutes before i had taken my 10mg lexapro and 1mg klonopin. i am currently experiencing drowsiness. is this unsafe? should i avoid taking benedryl with these other medications?

Sedation:  Drowsiness occurs in up to 50% of people taking Klonopin &amp; in 1 to 10% of people taking benadryl. I certainly would not take benadryl and Klonopin together if you plan to operate a vehicle, work with dangerous machinery or if you need to remain wide awake.

Some people: Yes in some people - try taking the medication at bedtime if you feels like it makes you sleepy.

Nasal saline/suction: The use of such combination antihistamine products was fashionable in the 70's &amp; 80's but is no longer recommended in the US under the age of 6 yr. Sedation is an expected side effect &amp; one reason the use of such products stopped. At 6mo most just need their nasal airways cleaned out with saline wash &amp; irritants like dust/fumes removed from their environment.

Did you sleep well?: Daytime alertness largely depends on your sleep. It must be sufficient and high quality.

Not Common.: This is not a commonly reported side effect, but I am sure it could occur.
