Not really: SUA is an uncommon finding on US. It is a soft sign for down syndrome. If there are other signs on ultrasound that are consistent with down syndrome, you may need a diagnostic test. Findings of a single UA in itself is not a reason for concern. Do follow with the triple test for further information.

Sonograms: In the hands of experienced sonographers, ultrasound is highly accurate.  However, no test is 100% accurate, and we are all imperfect beings, subject to human error.  So, it is possible, but not likely, for sonography to produce an erroneous result.

YOUR DOC should have: Totally explained all of the possibilities to you, but if your beta is that high and nothing is seen inside the uterus then you must r/o ectopic pregnancy which could be in the tube, ovary or cornual portion of the uterus please call your doc now as you need to be evaluated.

Sono: You can typically see the heartbeat on a transvaginal ultrasound by 6 weeks. Congratulations!

1500-2000 at least.: After that level one should be able to see an early pregnancy sac with transvaginal ultrasound (depends on your body type, the machine used and the experience of the examining specialist). Take Folic Acid 1-5 mg daily and best of luck! cardiac activity usually seen after 4500-6000 - fyi.

Yes: As long as the  beta HCG is rising it is normal. the fetal pole may not appear until after 6 weeks.

hello, my beta hcg levels show 75000 but only a gestational and yolk sac is seen on sonogram. my gestational sac is measuring about 7 weeks...

Blighted ovum: At 7 weeks an ultrasound should show a fetus. The finding of only a gestational sac and yolk sac is unusual at the least and may suggest a blighted ovum. To be sure, most would recommend a follow up in a few days before discussing terminating the pregnancy. Hope this helps and all goes well.

my ammonia level was 179. toxins in blood. sonogram shows enlarged liver. does this mean i have liver cirrhosis as i was told. if so, what type?

Cannot say w/o...: ...Much more history at minimum. However, if mucomyst (acetylcysteine) brings ammonia down and liver given chance to recover, can often improve function. Need to avoid any non-essential taxes to liver function--like alcohol and non-essential drugs/meds. Gi or hepatology (/liver specialist) can help guide management if not rapidly improving.
