No but: It's signs of massive infection in your throat and tonsils as well , you need meds, 
see a doctor right away..

hello - i have a large left tonsil, mild soreness & mild ear pain for over 3 months. i had a head & neck mri 5 months ago all fine then. dentist said yesterday tonsil looked ok but was large and to see my doctor, now im worried it could be cancer?

Cancer: Cancer risk extremely small. However hypertrophy of tonsil can cause spacial relations problems, such as partial airway obstruction. Cause of enlargement may be infection, which would require treatment. I would go one step further than your Dentist in recommending that you consult with a throat specialist, an ENT.

No: The sinuses can not directly cause 2 red spots on the tonsil, but the 2 red spots on the tonsil could represent a viral infection that may be associated with acute sinusitis.  See an ENT doctor to evaluate your problem.

R/O CRYPT TRAPPING: Tonsilar crypt trapping can cause chronic tonsillitis  you need to have throat cultured to rule out strep. and a full panel of blood work.  Empiric antibiotics Also ENT CONSULT The firm external sensation may be a secondary enlarged lymph node. Gerd can also cause similar SX and can respond to ZANTAC OR NEXIUM (esomeprazole).

Related?: May not be related. White spot may be a tonsilolith (tonsil stone). You could have an ear problem or a TMJ problem. Other TMJ symptoms inclulde painful chewing, jaw clicking, limited oral opening. Best bet is to see an ENT doc to assess both problems. If TMJ, ask for referral to TMJ expert.

Be sure of diagnosis: Get examined please. Canker sores are common aphthous ulcers of mouth that occur situationally, often in response to stressors, are bacterial or viral, &amp; can be treated topically with many otc products that reduce local discomfort &amp; potentially speed healing. However, oral/dental problems &amp; a number of systemic diseases cause canker sore-like lesions--crohn's, behcet's, STD to mention a few.

See your doctor asap: If only one tonsil is greatly swollen  you could have a peri-tonsil abscess and should be seen asap.

Salt water gargles: Saltwater gargles will help if for a viral sore throat. If you're not feeling better in a few days, please see your doctor. 
go in if you know anyone who's had strep throat recently. You don't always see white spots. However if you really don't feel sick maybe you just swallowed something and have a scratchy throat. Or could be from allergies to Pollen etc. but then you would likely have itchy eyes or stuffy nose.
