if i am thin can i feel an enlarged iliac lymph node? i feel a lump in abdomen in between belly button and hip bone. i do not feel it on other side.

Accepted Answer

No: even if you are thin iliac nodes are not palpable.  Too deep.  Inguinal nodes can be easily palpated- that's in the groin.  Also, there other causes for bumps in the belly.  Depends which side and location.  You could feel enlarged ovarian cyst if you are really skinny.  Can feel your own colon on left side - especially if full of poop, and so on.

are these symptoms related? right sided deep gluteal syndrome, right sided iliac lymph node pain and small nodule, intermittent fecal incontinence, constipation. can endometriosis cause all of these symptoms?

Monitoring Centers: The lymphatic system absorbs and carries things too big to go into the arteries and veins like bacteria eaten by white cells and digested food.  A lymph node "tastes" the lymph to see if anything bad is there like bacteria, viruses, cancers, etc. When it detects a problem, it alerts the immune system and enlarges in response to the inflammation they create when they react.  You can feel them then.

See a urologist: This may be a lymph node, a cyst, a tumor, an area of inflammation in the testis, the epididymus or elsewhere.  Go get this looked at by a professional.  Good luck.

Old infection?: Usually this is not serious at all, just a sign of a distant past infection, now cured. However, it due to past tuberculosis, an antibiotic might be recommended to prevent reactivation in the future. Discuss with your doctor; if she seems uncertain, perhaps see a pulmonary medicine specialist.

Several Things: A positive pet scan does not always equate with malignancy. The positive scan reflects increased metabolic activity. Causes of false positive exams include infectious diseases (mycobacterial (like tb), fungal, bacterial infection), sarcoidosis, radiation pneumonitis and post-operative surgical conditions have shown intense uptake on pet scan. Good luck!

Yes: Alternate tylenol (acetaminophen) with advil every 4 hrs but if you have strep throat, you must be treated with antibiotics.

i have 2 knots in the lymph node on the left side of my neck. i have taken a zpack and its not any better what should i do?

Lymph nodes in neck: The lymph nodes in the neck can take up to a few weeks to come down after an illness.. Even if the illness is properly treated.  If none of your symptoms are improving - you either have been given the wrong antibiotic or you had a viral illness to begin with (most common reason i see why people don't get better after an antibiotic).

how can u tell if an occipital lymph node is swollen? what would it feel like? what would cause it to swell on just the left side?

Swollen Lymph Node: You can tell if a lymph node is swollen if you can feel the lymph node. Normal lymph nodes are generally not felt. If you can feel an occipital lymph node, it is enlarged. Anything that affects your upper airway, such as sinus inflammation or a recent scalp inflammation can cause a swollen occipital lymph node. 

Unless you are sick, give it a couple weeks to resolve. If not, see your doctor.

LN or something else: LN x 3 months is nt a usual finding.  This could be something else such as remnant of an abscess, sebaceous cyst or lipoma which are less likely, etc.  Likely benign but have it looked at, perhaps w a POC US + CBC at lease.  Bx may or may not be indicated depending on features.
