No. Do not mix.: Avoid mixing them. Bad interaction has not been described, but both of them act similarly, so it would have no sense to mix them. If you have been prescribed with omeprazole and it is not available, 30 mg lansoprazole (only 30) is an acceptable replacement. Take only lansoprazole, not both of them.

All comparable: All of the PPI's (proton pump inhibitors) are very effective at reducing acid.  Some keep the gastric pH &lt;4 longer than others, but the bottom line, is which one works for you at the lowest dosage and the cheapest price.  Check with your insurance company and find out which is their preferred drug.

Basically same...: While you will hear anecdotal stories that one worked better for someone than the other drug, a number of randomized clinical trials (gold-standard for science) found that they were equivalent, both with respect to safety and efficacy. I would initially choose the one that is less expensive for you to obtain.

can gerd cause palpitations? also, if it is not the gerd causing the palps is it safe to take ppi's like omeprazole or lansoprazole with palps?

No: Gerd does not cause arrhythmias but may cause unusual sensations in the chest. Taking a proton pump inhibitors such as Omeprazole would not be likely to pose a significant risk. However without knowing the exact cause of palpitation, cannot comment specifically.
