Depends : well sometimes these blockages happen slowly therefore the heart compensate and make collateral circulation which supplies the myocardium(  heart muscle) which saves the patient.

i have a stent in lad artery. bp high recently.  chest pain &nausea the last couple of days.  do i wait for app't next month or go to clinic?

Emergency room: If chest pain is coming from blocked artery, the time to get attention is now, in order to limit damage to the heart.  

Many other things can cause pain, and if the first assessment says the heart is not in immediate danger, there is time to assess more possibilities.  Most worrisome symptoms often increase with exertion.

my 60 y dad had  coronary stent placement in lad artery for incidental finding of coronary block(80%)at 53 yr of age .am i at risk for cad in future ?

Yes: You should try to eat healthy and maintain a proper weight. Have regular check-up from your family doctor who will monitor for other risk factors.

once effient is started must you wait one year before it can be changed? i have 2 stents in lad artery.

12 months: After coronary stenting, an anti platelet agent such as Effient is prescribed for 12 months, to be taken with aspirin. If Effient must be discontinued e.g. Due to adverse reaction, it may be changed to an alternative medication. Continuation beyond 12 months is usually not necessary however may be considered for certain patients. Aspirin should be continued.

will be 12 months since 2 stents in lad artery..can now come off plavix (clopidogrel)....worried may be i should just continue on it ..any thoughts?

Keep going: The ideal, if you can afford it, is to continue on Aspirin and clopidogrel. Studies show better long term outcomes, but at 12 months you are at a time where it could be stopped.

Pulse rate: Heart rate is affected by some medications like beta blockers, diltiazem or verapamil all of which slow the rate and 50's or 60's are not uncommon. To answer your question we would have to know all your medications. The normal resting heart rates for healthy
 People are anywhere from 55 to 90/ min with 72 an average.

long term is tegretol or lamictal safer for a cardiac patient? 2 stents in lad artery.

Both fairly safe,: Yet, i would tend not to use tegretol due to its potential for adverse effects, such as lowering sodium, causing bone marrow anemias, affecting liver function, but also raising cholesterol levels (which indirectly might harm the heart eventually).  Big issue with Lamictal is occasional rash, but otherwise, not a bad choice and well tolerated.

i have 2 stents in lad artery...is prozac (fluoxetine) a safe ssri due to its qt prolongation or is it to risky?

Accepted Answer

OTc prolongation: Likely your Prosac will have no real effect on your cardiac conduction, as long as QTc measures under 499 msec, but here is the key issue.  Huge numbers of prescription meds have potential to prolong QT interval, especially opioids, but also entire class of SSRI's and SSNRI's.  Will refer your question also to cardiology, as they can expand on my comments.

LAD: The left anterior descending artery supplies the major portion of the left ventricle. Sudden death is thought to occur more frequently from occlusion of this vessel than any other single vessel occlusion; thus some people term it as you mentioned.
