12 months: After coronary stenting, an anti platelet agent such as Effient is prescribed for 12 months, to be taken with aspirin. If Effient must be discontinued e.g. Due to adverse reaction, it may be changed to an alternative medication. Continuation beyond 12 months is usually not necessary however may be considered for certain patients. Aspirin should be continued.

Effluent for a year: There are a number of medications in that class of drugs that may be substituted for Effient if there is a problem with taking it. Ask your heart doctor.
