Depends on degree: It depends on the degree of renal artey stenosis. For mild -diet and nutrition. For moderate-acei/arb+diuretic+statin; for severe angioplasty dilatation or with stent  or atherectomy or bypass. The surgical option is not done as much it used to be in the past as medical and surgical survival is getting same. Please see your doctor and good luck.

my right kidney is not draining right due to a blockage.  i have to go see an urologist.  what might need to be done?

Ureter blocked: I assume you had an ultrasound and/or ct scan of the kidney to find the blockage. A stone may be the culprit and the urologist may remove it via a cystoscope or have you get shock waves to break it up(lithotripsy).A tumor or scar tissue can also block the ureter. In any event, the urologist will advise you best.

if my creatine level is 110 for a 30 yo female, and i have a kidney stone blockage will it continue to rise?  how fast will it rise?

Blocked kidney: We look at BUN and Cr when evaluating kidney function.  If a kidney stone is blocking the flow of urine (obstructing) and resulting in abnormal kidney labs, the stone should be dealt with by a urologist.  Lithotripsy uses sound waves to break up stones.  A stent can also open up the blockage and help relieve pressure on the obstructed kidney.

Air near the kidney?: is not a good thing at all if this was real and not overlaying bowel gas appearing to be near the kidney.  In my humble opinion the child needs a more complete kidney evaluation with a CT scan with contrast (if renal function allows) or an MRI scan.  And probably needs to be evaluated by a pediatric nephrologist  ASAP.

Yes, depends on seve: If the blockage is complete &amp; urine backs up into the kidneys, you can get a condition called hydronephrosis. This can be detected on ultrasound due to the dilation of the ducts in the kidneys (like stepping on a garden hose- water backs up &amp; bulges). Ultrasound can miss a kidney stone due to its location or size; however, it can detect the *effects* of a kidney stone, by which diagnosis is made.

Yes: The most common way to address blockages in the arteries to the kidneys is with stents. The procedure is straight forward and done as an outpatient. The harder question is, "does he need it fixed?" if his blood pressure is really difficult to control or his kidney function has been worsening, than he would most likely benefit from treatment. Otherwise, the need for treatment is questionable.

Stones cause pain: How do you know you have a blockage? I suspect you had a study that showed "hydronephrosis". Blockages of the ureters,  which connects each kidney to the bladder are serious and can be caused by different things. Almost always a kidney stone does cause significant pain. But other things can cause blockages. This problem needs exploration before you get sick or your kidney is damaged.

Hydration: Is paramount, certain stones, depending on the contents, could be manage by changing ph or adding neutralizes. Best talk to urologist to identify stone content. If lodge and large, may need u/s treatment.
