When your Dr. says: If you have gestational diabetes you should be checking your blood sugar levels multiple times a day and reporting those numbers to your OB doctor.  You need to count carbs and be very strict in your diet - if not for you, then for the baby!  when you cannot or will not control your blood sugar with diet alone, you doctor will need to add Insulin for the safety of your baby.  No oral meds in preg.

It depends: It depends on the severity of the diabetes.  If your blood sugar is only mildly elevated, you might be able to get away with it with oral medications, diet and exercise.  If your numbers are very high, above the effectiveness of lifestyle changes and oral meds, then Insulin will be needed. A specialist is helpful in this situation.

i got diagnosed w/gestational diabetes(no insulin) i had tacos and some chocolates and the # after 2hrs was 112. but 3hr-125,4hrs-127,5hrs-130. should i keep tracking my#if i had a snack or heavy meal? how do i know which foods would spike after 3hrs?

: Test your sugar as recommended by your team. Be certain your home device is accurate and you are doing it exactly as instructed.  I recommend the DASH eating plan. But your Drs know you.  I do not.

No: Insulin resistance is extremely common in PCOS whether or not it is the cause and women with PCOS very frequently have gestational diabetes. Insulin resistance makes the ovarian changes worse and the ovarian changes make insulin resistance worse. It is a chicken and egg kind of thing with PCOS. Hope this explanation is clear.

Over 150: If you have been diagnosed with gdm, you can safely take glucophage (metformin) but if not controlled you would need insulin.  If your readings were consistently above 150 you would need insulin.

Not needed: Scientific evidence of the benefits if Inositol is not very compelling. We can not recommend the use of the supplement without scientific evidence of benefits. With a history of gestational diabetes you should request early testing. You should also exercise daily and monitor your carb intake.

Varies: In the us, is is now common not to induce before 39 wks in normal pregnancies.In a pregnancy with gestational or regular diabetes, the infants may take longer to reach lung maturity.I have seen some with classical rds born at 40 wks.Your obgym team must try to balance the size issue with the other issue babies may have.Please discuss this with them as this or other  considerations could be in play.

Proper testing: Home testing is not suitable for diagnosis. You should get your fasting blood plasma tested at an accredited laboratory. If your glucose and A1c results are correct, you are not prediabetic. To improve your health exercise at least 30 minutes 5 days/week. Keep you BMI around 20-22.

my wife is 38 had a c section on 11/18/22 she had gestational diabetes was on insulin delivered 5 weeks early due to preeclampsia now her heart isnt working right according to the walk in clinic right lower leg hurts in various places slow  rate?
