Course is 3-5 days.: It of course also depends on the severity of the infection. If one is being given IV Rocephin, (ceftriaxone) the patient probably has more severe infection. One should be feeling better with decreasing fever or improving WBC in 24-48 hours. A typical course is 3 to 5 days but if kidney infection (pyelonephritis) is involved, treatment can be 10-14 days.

Allergy.: An allergy to a food, medicine, product or anything else, does not appear the first couple of times you take/eat/apply it, sometimes not fora  week or two. Rarely, it can happen after many doses have been safely used  So this could mean you are allergic to the Rocephin (ceftriaxone). It depends on what else is going on, or something else you are taking. Ask your doc if the rash is due to that, or something else

i've had painful otitis media one week, even on omnicef and now iv rocephin (ceftriaxone) (for chronic sinusitis). do i need myringotomy?

You may. : It is possible that you have an ear infection with your sinusitis. If you do, and it is not getting better with antibiotics, a myringotomy may help.  To find out, you should make an appointment with your ENT to check your ear.

bad low respiratory infection. on iv rocephin and decadron. having bad ear aches and pressure both ears. is this related? what could cause this?

Mgt: You may have an ear infection but the illness may be viral as well. The antibiotic will treat bacterial illness. The decadron will decrease inflammation in the lungs related to your asthma and infection.  A virtual consult may be arranged and you will be able to upload information to your HT EMR.

my husband has lyme meningitis he was put on iv antibotic  rocephin (ceftriaxone) 14 days.  i now there is side effects.  is that treatment  very effective?

Yes: It is the treatment of choice for this complication of lyme disease.

rocephin by iv everyday for 21 days. can a few air bubbles in my line for this amount of days harm me? i noticed some every time. an inch or so.

No problem, no worry: A small amount of air in an IV line isn't a problem. It would take a hundred times that amount of air to cause a problem. Don't worry about it. Best wishes for success in treating your infection.

asking my doc if we can try bicillin shots instead of rocephin by iv for late lyme. can that be just as good ?

Rocephin IV Best: It is up to your Doctor. 
Rocephin IV daily  for 10 -14 days is better for Neuroborreliosis or Lyme Arthritis!! 
Bicillin LA IM is preferred treatment for Syphilis!

Yes: yes actually levequin is more important in the treatment of UTI than rocephin (ceftriaxone).

had a pyelo early last wk. 3 days of rocephin (ceftriaxone) iv & now on day 6 keflex(culture=no resistance to this) kidneys are still sore. should i be concerned?

Pyelonephritis: It sounds like you have been treated exactly right. Needing 3 days IV treatment suggests a rather severe case, and it could take a couple weeks for pain to clear completely. Maybe a chance of a complication like papillary necrosis, abscess, or blockage (kidney stone?), but probably not. Keep in touch with your doctor, especially if fever returns or if you still have pain when at end of treatment.

what are the differences between megion and rocephin (ceftriaxone)?

Same drug: Ceftriaxone =Rocephin  (cephalosporin antibiotic)  Megion is found in a variety of other countries (not US) and is also Ceftriaxone.
