Honey and Tea: If you have honey at home, you might want to try mixing honey and fresh lemon juice in some warm water and sip.  Alcohol should be avoided since it is dehydrating.  While there is certainly nothing wrong with chamomile tea, peppermint or licorice tea may be more comforting.  Apple cider vinegar may well be irritate the throat unless diluted significantly.

Sore throat: Elderberry is no good, in fact may irritate it due to its acidity. I'd do salt water gargles instead. Rapid strep negative, good chance the culture will be negative. Medrol (methylprednisolone) should help, but sounds like an overkill in an uncomplicated sore throat.

what tea is best to soothe a sore throat?

Some options: Consider making tea with 2 tsp of marshmallow root bark per 1cup of hot water (steep in a covered pot for at least 5 minutes).  Drink several times a day or as needed to relieve throat pain.  
Try adding 2 tsp of slippery elm bark to 1 cup of hot water (steep for at least 5 minutes in a covered teapot). Drink this as needed to relieve pain or a few times per day.

why do i have a slight sore-throat most of the days? specially when i wake up in the mornings, though it goes away after a cup of hot tea.

You noted that you : Have difficulty breathing when you lie down ; unequal air flow through nostrils. If you breath through your mouth when sleeping, throat ; mouth may be dry with thickened mucus. If you have post nasal drip, fluids may accumulate when supine. Allergies could also be an issue. Or you may have congestion which lessens after drinking hot beverage.  A medical eval. Would be likely to help differentiate.

Mainly: TEA = Tannic acid a natural "mucolytic" (dissolves mucous)
LEMON and HONEY  the honey SOOTHES the inflamed throat  (Mainly it makes the TEA TASTE BETTER

Well...: Looked up essiac tea ; it was described as a naturopathic product that has been used for cancer. I don't know what it contains as i believe it is a proprietary blend of herbs. I didn't see research on it. I will forward your question to dr. Baker - he may know more about. I can't recommend that you do or don't take it at this point. But there are herbs that are known to help sore throats. Consider.

Sore throat: Persistence of a sore throat for 3 days with no sign of a head cold developing calls for a rapid throat culture to check for a strep infection. Your physician can order this.

i have a sore throat for four days now i don't feel sick it feels like i may have a  scratch in there.  i been drinking  hot tea, orange juice.

Nothing Strong: Tea is ok, however orange juice is too irritating on the tissue.  Use something that is more gengle to the tissue.  Also you can  do the usual way is to take liquid medicine or cough drops designed for the throat.  The old way is to gargle with peroxide, the new way is to gargle with Chlorhexidine gluconate (brand name = Peridex (chlorhexidine gluconate) and needs an rx from your physician or dentist).
