Honey and Tea: If you have honey at home, you might want to try mixing honey and fresh lemon juice in some warm water and sip. Alcohol should be avoided since it is dehydrating. While there is certainly nothing wrong with chamomile tea, peppermint or licorice tea may be more comforting. Apple cider vinegar may well be irritate the throat unless diluted significantly.
