Absent periods ?: Stress in any form (heavy exercise, emotional, work or school related) can suspend ovulation, which will stop periods.  Of course, pregnancy and "polycystic ovarian syndrome" (PCOS) will also cause lack of periods.  If pregnancy is not possible, see your gyn physician for an exam and possible  pelvic ultrasound to confirm reasons for lack of periods.

Ask your doc first: Everyone is different and has different tolerances for exercise and diet. Portion control is the best long term diet strategy. I usually have people multiply their ideal body weight by 12 and that's on average how many calories they should eat daily from then on to get and maintain that weight. Then I recommend high intensity exercise, if the patient is able, since that builds the most muscle.

No specific time: as long as you do them on a regular basis at least 5 days a week. You also need to eat a good balanced diet and moderate portions.
