i am sick from eating fiber one cereal- what to do?

Stop: stop eating it if you are sick or bored with eating it. There are other ways to get fiber into your diet, such as fresh fruits and vegetables added to your meals. I also believe you would be best served getting your fiber throughout the day.

good substitute for grain? as grains are inflammatory and not all that useful minus fiber.  or is a little bit of grain still good? (cereal/toast)

Good question: The grain, e.g. Rice is just starch. Mother nature surrounded the grain with a cusp that contains the vitamins to metabolize the starch. That is why whole grain bread is nutritious while white bread provides only calories. In my view, even vitamin enrichment of white bread is not sufficient to meet demand.

i recently switched to fiber one cereal. now i'm incredibly gassy. does this indicate to much fiber or not enough?

Fiber cereal: This is a drawback for eating high fiber cereal. However, eat slowly, dont swallow excess air by drinking from a straw, talk less while eating. Drink  an 8 ounce glass of water after meals.

Breakfast cereals: Many breakfast cereals, probably including this one, have lots of fiber, but also lots of sugar and other simple carbohydrates. You can't get enough fiber without loading up on sugar and carbs; on balance, they're not very healthy. It probably would neither help nor hurt GERD symptoms.

soluble fiber. will adding powder soluble fiber to cereal reduce the sugar the body will absorb? can i add it almost everything i eat? drinks, soups, yogurt, even fruit? the one i use has no taste. what is the daily intake of soluble fiber?

: Powdered fiber is used as a bulk forming laxative.  In theory you might experience early satiety, but it will not decrease your caloric intake.  There’s no limit to how much you can take as long as you have enough water intake for the fiber to pass through your intestines

Sure, why not?: That's not really a medical question.  You can eat whatever you want.  High fiber wheat cereal is good for you.  Plain pancakes are yummy.

Egg, Milk: Add some protein and milk. If not overweight can be little liberal. Avoid the pig products.

Safe and helpful: The "fiber" in cereal and other foods is typically the husk around seeds like grain or psyllium. It is safe and many people find it helps to keep them regular. Note, however, that many sugary cereals like lucky charms are not advertising "whole grain" and otherwise claiming to be high in fiber. They are still loaded with sugar and not very healthy.

is it possible to become dependent upon fiber. to avoid chronic constipation i have been eating high-fiber cereal quantity of 50 g fiber daily. i am concerned that if i stopped i would become very constipated. am i creating problem for myself. thanks?

Fiber is good !: The average male should be consuming ~38g of fiber daily, so I don’t see a problem with regular intake of 50 or more daily
