Lactose is Sugar: Lactose, the simple sugar in milk is probably the main reason behind the craving.  One gallon of milk has nearly 1000 calories of lactose. This is simple sugar. That is a lot of sugar calories to be consuming if you are pre-diabetic.

Who knows?: A fasting blood glucose of 95 is normal. But if u drink soda with sugar and don't watch what you eat that could change. You take Lipitor (atorvastatin) so u probably have high cholesterol. Switch to diet soda and eat healthy to decrease the chance you develop pre-diabetes or diabetes. Good luck!

my mom is suspected to have prediabetes. she went to have it checked and they only did 2 hour tolerance test. checked fasting levels, and after 2 hours post drinking 75g sugary drink. levels were normal. i think full 3 hour gtt should be done. no?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, she may wish to get a hemoglobin A1 c test done. If that is less than 5.7 she is unlikely to have pre-diabetes.     Wish you good health!

i am a 42 year old female who is overweight just lost 10lbs trying to lose 80. my ast is 44 and my alt is 42. i don't drink. does this man i have liver permeant liver issues my numbers are high and i a prediabetic my a1c is 5.8. i am scared?

: At least in our laboratories those values for ALT &amp; ALT are normal and liver disease would not be suggested. Abstinence from alcohol is certainly a good idea. A dietician or nutritionist would be helpful in treating your prediabetes and in reaching your ideal weight in a healthy manner.

Yes: it wastes your $$ that you could be using on proper nutrition, exercise, weight loss, test strips and medication. Don't get your medical information from friends, tv or internet scams. People don't need supplements before a workout; that's advertising and marketing garbage.

Sleep?: Are you getting enough sleep?  Many adults try to get by on 4-6 hours of sleep per night.  Try to aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night.  Try to go to bed at the same time each night. Also avoid using smartphone or tablets  right before bedtime. The light from these screens can interfere with sleep. End screen time usage an hour before bedtime.

Do not need one: You may by ensure at a grocery store or Walmart, without prescription. However, you probably do not need ensure or boost for your health.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.
