recurrent utis/how do i get acidic urine?

Cranberries!: First, i would make sure an evaluation as to why you are prone to recurrent utis is done. Your md can evaluate. Next, cranberry juice has been proven to help reduce utis in women. The new research suggests that the beneficial substances in cranberry juice could reach the urinary tract and prevent bacterial adhesion within eight hours.  the chemicals prevent bacteria from "sticking" to the gu tract.

i have a recurring uti since january 2018 that keeps on returning ever +-2 weeks. urine tests in january shows that there is e coli present.

how can i prevent it from coming back? i am really tired of this discomfort and pain.

Find the reason: This souldn't be happening. You may have a stone that harbors a biofilm of these bacteria -- antibiotics usually won't clear this. You may have an anatomic defect of some sort. It's time for a serious investigation, starting with some imaging studies. Best wishes.

Urologist needed: If he found you normal and cranberry tablets did not help, try low dose antibiotic for a long time.

klebsiella p? 2 uti's since jan. w/small amts k.p. took 10 days suprax (cefixime). does this reduce k.p. in stool? wear pads for urine leaks.  contaminating self? how to prevent uti's? w/u's = aging skin only.

Recurrent UTI's: Looks like you developed two urinary tract infections with the same microorganism within last four months.   The problem may be related to either reinfection or persistent infection due to either not sufficient antibiotic treatment or anatomical problem. I would have your physician review your urine culture results and perhaps ask for further evaluation.

Acidic: Normally urine PH should be acidic (6.8) to prevent infection. Vitamin C is an acidic food but I am not sure if this plays enough role to increase or decrease  the PH. Please see a doctor.

Pyuria: Urine is typically acidic, so don't be alarmed by that result. The 15-20 white blood cells in a urinalysis demonstrates a pyuria - this may be a uti, but it depends on the other symptoms and clinical context that your doctor will figure out. Eosinophils oh the urine is unusual and may suggest an allergy or rarer types of infection (parasite, fungal, tb).

Look: Check to see if there is any injury.  If the pain is new since treatment, persists or worsens, see your doctor.

i take famotidine to reduce acid as i have barretts. i also get utis. i believe that hiprex makes the urine more acidic. can hiprex make barretts worse by introducing more acid into my system as they are both pills which go via the oesophegus?

Barrett's: No, Hipprex should not affect the barrett's. As long as you do not feel any worsening of reflux or acid coming up after taking it, it should be fine. Continue with famotidine and follow the precautions for reflux and gastritis with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Also stay well hydrated with water.

Probably useless: There is no evidence that saw palmetto has any beneficial effects on the urinary tract. Was once thought to be beneficial in treating enlarged prostates but double blind trials at numerous us clinics failed to reduce any urinary tract symptoms  in > 300 men enrolled in the study. Thus suggest you save your money, saw palmetto, like many suppliments only benefit those who produce and sell them. Goo.
