i have had 5 hernia repairs. now have a knot as big ad a half of fist above where hernias were. one day ill weight 170 and next day weight 180.

Pre op imaging: During the process of evaluating this new lump, possible hernia, ask your team for a ct scan of your abdomen/pelvis. This imaging study will help your surgeon plan a hernia operation. The weight changes might not be related. If you have fever or vomiting get evaluated sooner. Good luck.

Hernia in 1yr old: You did not say what kind of henia he has.If it is inguinal hernia, which is in the groin area, that should be operated by a pediatric surgeon.But if it is umblocal hernia which is at the site of belly button, that does not need to be done at this age, because as the baby grows and gets stronger the hernia corrects itself most of the time by the time the child is 8 years old.

Yes: Large hernias can be repaired. However, you state “hiatal” hernia. I believe you may not have this type of hernia, as you can only have 1 and it does not result in any visible bulge. I assume you are describing large abdominal wall hernias. the exact size of the defects, you overall health and your weight dictate the ability to undergo a repair and you risk of recurrence.

: Depends. If it was discovered incidental to testing for some other reason and you have no symptoms than you do not surgery. Just be careful about heavy lifting or straining.  Size is 'medium'. Unless it enlarges you will be fine

How old: With this issue umbi hernias are common in the newborns &amp; big is a relative term (how big). Most self correct as the kid develops more tone in their belly muscles, usually by age 2. Black female infants are more likely to need surgical correction than white or Asians of either gender.There is slight chance the hernia gets trapped needing  immediate surgery but the risk can be determined by exam.

my son had an open hernia and hydrocele repair done may 28 he has been doing fine until yesterday right testicle looks just as big as when hernia was ?

Enlarge testicle: Hello,  is your son currently in pain or does the testicle look red and inflamed?  If so, you should proceed to the ER asap.  If he is happy and acting fine, but it is enlarged again after the surgery, I would call the surgeon in the morning and have him/her take a look at it.  The hernia and/or the hydrocele may have opened up or recurred again.  Please have it looked at.  Wishing him well...
