Normal variation: The z-line, where the esophagus lining connects to the stomach lining varies quite a bit from person to person.  Not everyone has a straight circle -- that's why it's called the "z"-line, because an irregular border is normal.  Some things that can make it more abnormal could be reflux of bile or acid into the esophagus, poor esophageal squeezing, or just a normal variation.  Good health!

Esophagitis: You may have irritation of your esophagus from acid reflux. Try an over the counter antacid and see if your symptoms improve. If not, you need to see a gastroenterologist and let them investigate the issue.

i am 4 months post nissan & had a scope for epigastric pain, nausea, and blood.it showed an irregular z line & antral erosions only; no ulcers. biopsies pending.

Biopsies. : While an irregular GE junction is not pathognomonic of Barrett's, the biopsy specimens should let us know with certainty if such is present.

: There is more to what is going on than the information presented. It is not usual to have this frequent EGD especially when they were initially normal. The hyphae is just a different form of yeast meaning you have candida esophagitis which is not usual unless there is underlying immune compromised state. Infection would cause abnormality of the mucosa especially if it is being long course.

: Hard to know what causes esophageal yeast infections-are you taking inhaled steroids? If so, rinse and spit after each use. There is treatment for esophageal yeast infections-either oral lozenges can be used, typically 5x daily or systemic treatment can be given, depending on the extent of the infection. Esophagitis: you'll need to be on a high-dose PPI (Prilosec, nexium) and possibly repeat the endoscopy in 3-6 months to rule out a condition like Barrett's.  I assume they also took biopsies from the esophagus, follow up on that.

Worrisome.: The details that you present are certainly worrisome. A diagnosis of cancer can't be made without a look at your esophagus and a biopsy. Given the circumstances, you should seek that out immediately. Keep your courage. Good  luck.

People feel many: different things in their chests and think they are coming from their heart. If you had symptoms and no evidence on EKG for any abnormality then it is not from your heart. It could be from your GI, Pulmonary, nervous or Musculoskeletal systems. Not the vagus, possibility from the esophagus.

Eating: Sometimes ingested items not fully chewed  can get stuck in esophagus. Chicken and fish bones sometimes leave sensation because of scratch in esophagus or pharynx leave stuck sensation. Narrowings (stenoses) of esophagus from surgery, reflux esophagitis, hernia and congenital abnormalities can cause holdup of materials.

Acid reflux : If your chest is hurting from acid reflux, you need to avoid foods that seem to make it worse. Typical offenders are tomatoes, onions, citrus, Mint, chocolate, alcohol, and tobacco. However , you will know what is the worst for yourself. Take over-the-counter antacids, but if this does not help after a few weeks, see your gastroenterologist. Good luck.
