It is necessary for the absorption of vitamin b12, which occurs in the small intestines. If you don't absorb b12, you can develop macrocytic anemia.

Intrinsic Factor: The main issue with intrinsic factor is that it helps with absorption of B12 (a vitamin) and a low B12 level will eventually effect your red blood cells. The optimal way to prevent this in those with intrinsic factor depletion is to supplement their B12 intake with injections that bypass the GI tract. If this is a condition you are suffering from, you would benefit from seeing a GI specialist soon.

Vitamin B 12 : My guess is that your body has been putting the injection to use. The level in June was  because of the injection, but, your body processed and stored that supply, and you probably just need a few more injections. B12 is a micro nutrient, you don't need much of it, and once your stores are complete, your level should stay normal four months to years.

: The best way to objectify: obtain blood tests for Vit B-12 and MMA about every 3-4 months, but in the meantime, follow your doctor's advice.

: You may not need to repeat the same test. Wait for the GI Doctor’s opinion because he may want to send a different test, like a Parietal Cell antibody Test, that is a bit less specific but helps to confirm Pernicious Anemia. Plus, we don’t know if the lab ran both IF Antibodies (Blocking and Binding). Your GI will know. Just be sure not to use bit B12 at least 2-3 wks before if they retest you.

Depends on the test: The test for intrinsic factor is usually antibody to intrinsic factor and that would not be affected. If the B12 test is measuring the blood level of the vitamin, then that would be affected and yield a higher reading than the baseline, without the B 12 supplement.
