11/19 had hysteroscopy due to thick lining & appearance of polyp results were no polyp & all nrml 6/21 had yearly & u/s. lining 5.1 now lining is 6.8 with endometrial cysts is this cancer i am in menopause?

: Cysts are not cancerous.
You need to be followed by a gynecologist(unless you have been going to one during the past few years) who can monitor the condition of your uterus.
A repeat Hysteroscopy and or endometrial biopsy may be necessary in order to better assess your endometrial lining.

what can cause long term vaginal bleeding? i have been bleeding daily for 1 year. i have pcos. paid for private ultrasound scan and she said nothing obvious there. can't see fibroid or polyps. endometrial lining is 9mm thick. portion is ill defined?

: You asked this question before but you did not mention PCOS history. You definitely need to see a GYN doctor for the treatment of PCOS and likely chronic anemia. Daily vaginal bleeding is very abnormal. Take care.

: By UpToDate: "the incidence of EH without atypia was highest in patients ages 50 to 54 years (between 142 and 213 per 100,000 woman-years) whereas the rate of EH with atypia was highest in patients ages 60 to 64 (56 per 100,000 woman-years)". Atypia means abnormal or atypical endometrium which could be precancerous. Small fluid in cul de sac isn't uncommon. Biopsy is indicated if you have bleeding

: If the "5.1 and 6.8" are the measurements of the endometrial lining in centimeters, they represent a normal dimension for age "55", as ovulation is infrequent or absent, and estrogen is still being made by the ovaries, affecting the endometrial lining.  If the "cyst" is located in the lining or in an ovary, it is not a significant concern currently.

Blockage: A polyp sits atop the endometrial and usually partially made of endometrial material.  When the endo lining sheds, the part under the polyp cannot shed as the polyp blocks its.  Think of rain falling on a field with a huge thick tree setting in the middle.  The rain cannot really get to the ground under the tree as it is blocked by the tree; sample principle with the polyp.

No/No: Endometrial biopsy samples a portion of the lining. The lining may be normal, even though the small polyp is cancerous

Ultrasound jargon: It is ultrasound MD jargon for the examiners  inability to distinguish between a endometrial lining that has a polyp in it or a uterine musculature that looks like Swiss cheese (Adenomyosis) due to invagination of the endometrium into the muscle of the uterus.

i have a 1cm endometrial polyp that isn't really causing symptoms.  i am 35 and pre-menopausal. doc wants to remove polyp - is that really necessary?

Polyp: Treatment may not be necessary if the polyps do not cause any symptoms. However, polyps should be treated if they cause heavy bleeding during menstrual periods, or if they are suspected to be precancerous or cancerous. They should be removed if they cause problems during pregnancy, such as a miscarriage, or result in infertility in women who want to become pregnant. If a polyp is discovered after menopause, it should be removed.

my endometrial lining is 19.2 with a possible polyp. they are doing a hysteroscopy on the 11th. what chance is it of being cancer they are looking for?

They ARE looking: If the radiologist thinks it's a polyp, if it is cancer (odds are it's not, but there's a chance) is has probably not gotten very far. They are of course concerned this is cancer and we need tissue to find out. Let's hope for the best -- you were wise to permit the workup.

Yes: It may be time for a hysterosalpingogram (HSG)  or sono HSG to ensure there isn't another process occurring.  There are many causes of uterine outlet obstruction.....some more serious than others. Begin with a pap smear, See your ob/gyn of course, before doing anything else.
