Maybe: It is possible that after falling down the stairs you could have sprained something in your foot. A physician would have to see your foot to be sure you didn't break one of the bones in your foot. If there is something else you would like to know, please ask!

Be patient: It sounds like you have a bad sprain and some associated numbness where you got the rug burn, and most likely had some superficial nerves damaged in the scrape. If the rug burn starts to get redder and spread, the warmth gets worse, it starts to drain pus, than it may be getting infected, so seek help again in that case. Otherwise, time will heal your wounds. Good luck to you.

Yes: As with a cast, skin can peel if it has been wrapped continuously. Normally, the skin sheds a little at a time. With a continuous cover, that doesn't happen. When the cover is removed (cast, wrap), the skin makes up for lost time. Next time, remove the wrap regularly and wash with a wash cloth.

Not normal: This is a common complaint seen in the urgent care center. If your foot or ankle is still hurting after 1 month, it is likely fractured and missed on the initial XRAY read or re-injured due to improper immobilization of the original sprain. Your foot needs re-evaluation, a repeat XRAY, and a proper orthopedic shoe with Ortho follow-up +/- Physical Therapy. See your doctor today.

Yes: More likely you ruptured the Plantaris tendon which  is a "violin string" like vestigial tendon running UNDER the Achilles In any case Ice Elevation first 48 hours then Heat and elevation. If there is bruising this will confirm this online Diagnosis

Ankle: You may have done more than sprain your ankle.  It is important for you to see a doctor.  He/she will examine the ankle and determine what happened and what needs to be done to correct the situation.  Letting it go self-diagnosed or untreated isn't a good idea but there are lots of reasons to be hopeful.  Peace and good health.

RICE: Rest, ice, compression and elevation are the place to start. Once things settle down after a week or so, start working on ankle strengthening exercises. A lace up brace or similar may also be helpful to make you more comfortable.
