Yes: More likely you ruptured the Plantaris tendon which is a "violin string" like vestigial tendon running UNDER the Achilles In any case Ice Elevation first 48 hours then Heat and elevation. If there is bruising this will confirm this online Diagnosis Hope this helps Dr Z

Or more: Achilles pain associated with abnormal 'crunching' may be an indication of a partial Achilles rupture. Best to have it examined by an orthopedist.
