Yes: As with a cast, skin can peel if it has been wrapped continuously. Normally, the skin sheds a little at a time. With a continuous cover, that doesn't happen. When the cover is removed (cast, wrap), the skin makes up for lost time. Next time, remove the wrap regularly and wash with a wash cloth.

No unusual: The wrapping along with swelling of tye ankle can cause discoloration of the skin. When swelling goes down the skin tends to peel/slough.

Ankles and calves have brownish freckle like discoloration. On occasion I will also get large O shaped or C shaped spots along with swelling. The red spots are hot to touch and sometimes the skin will become flakey or peel when the spots begin to go away.
