my urologist wants me to wait until i pass the stone, its been 3 months and i have "stable" mild hydronephrosis. is it ok to wait?

Kidney stone: Kidney stones can take several weeks to pass. Stones less than 5 mm in size tend to pass spontaneously most of the time. If you have no pain, no hematuria and no major comorbidities like diabetes or a uti, you may consider following the advise of your urologist.

? not treated : 9mm stone is too large to pass spontaneously and thus requires intervention either by extracorporeal-shockwave-lithotripsy (ESWL) or ureteroscopically by laser lithotripsy. You also need to know whether obstructing stone was causing hydronephrosis or cause  is intrinsic ureteropelvic junction causing urinary stasis which predisposes to stone formation. Good Luck

Hydronephrosis : U might have a new stone, you most likely need a CT scan to see what's causing the hydronephrosis

help me with this. there is 9mm stone noted at the right upj. there are right ureteric stones which measure up to 1.8,0.7 and 0.8 cm. bilateral intrarenal stones and moderate right hydronephrosis with multiple right ureteric stones?

: You need to see a urologic for intervention as soon as possible. If retrograde uresteroscopic procedure can't be done urgently, you need to have percutaneous nephrostomy +/- anterograde ureteral stent for protecting right kidney function. Blood test may not show acute renal failure because the left kidney can compensate for the right kidney. Stone analysis is necessary for prophylactic treatment.

i have a 14mm kidney stone without hydronephrosis. is it passable?

No: A 14 mm stone in the kidney will not pass.Too big to go down ureter.No hydronephrosis because it is not at the  point where the ureter joins the renal pelvis(called UPJ for ureteropelvic junction) where it would block drainage &amp; cause hydronephrosis. Please get it taken care of because it will give you trouble. I am not going into treatment options but please  get  treatment.Good luck.

Need good urologist: May need a second independent urologic opinion if Ur problem is out of control. Have you had a metabolic work-up to diagnose cause of chronic stones. U may require surgery to correct hydronephrosis &amp; facilitate urinary drainage to prevent urinary stagnation which predispose to stones. U may have infectious kidney stones or have never been completely cleared all of which predisposes to more stones.

Yes: Kidney stones that block the draining tubular structures inside the kidney or block the ureter cause hydronephrosis.

Probably not worry: A shrinking of the kidney by 0.2 cm is probable within the technical errors of measurement. I assume you are referring to measurement on ultrasound which has considerable technical variations in measurement. Please see your doctor or a urologist regarding the obstructing stone.

Cyst=benign: A peripelvic cyst is fortunately a benign finding. A peripelvis cyst is a simple cyst  next to the part of the kidney which collects urine. No further imaging is required.
