Not unless doc says: Putting rice cereal in infant's formula is not a good idea. If you are just trying to satisfy for a longer interval between feeds because they want to eat so often, it's a really bad idea. They are signaling to you they need more formula and calories, not filling them up with their systems are not designed to handle. If  they are refluxing baby, doc may suggest it, but only under close supervision.

Why either: Early feeding is a throwback to the years when mom's made their own marginal formula from cow milk.It is not needed in the first year, but most begin the transition to solids when the kids can sit up, and the tongue thrust subsides, at about 6mo. When and if you start solids, you need to use a spoon.Solids are offered to teach a new method of feeding, not to fill some void in the babies nutrition.

No, rice cereal does: not provide the necessary nutrients for a 3 month old to be able to grow &amp; develop normally. Your baby needs to be evaluated &amp; treated by the pediatric specialists in gastroenterology (disorders of the stomach &amp; intestines) &amp; nutrition at the Hospital Infantil Dr. Robert Reid Cabral right there in Santo Domingo. 1teaspoon to4 tsf: Start with one teaspoon of rice cereal and add 4to5 teaspoon of formula or breast milk to it and feed the baby with a spoon.then gradually you can increase to 2 and then. 3 and 4 teaspoon as the baby gets the taste of it and follow it with formula or breast milk.

Maybe: The use of alumentus suggests there is concern for possible intolerance to some of the protein sources in the earlier feeds. Rice cereal will have a foreign protein source and may be a problem. The amount is somewhat arbitrary.When using cereal many add a teaspoon/4 oz.You could get a similar effect by adding some alumentum powder (same amount) and not have a new protein.The idea is to thicken fds.

Yes, it may: Rice cereal is quite safe and often used to thicken the formula in hope that it will reduce the reflux..As it is easier to reflux liquid vs solid foods. Just try a little bit at a time..It may or may not help with reflux. You may want to keep baby head-up a bit after feeding and during sleep--some use a carseat etc..To keep baby head elevated. If symptoms persist, consult doc.

Bad habits: A baby should be taught to eat waking up, and never when going to bed. Cereal in the bottle has never produced a proven benefit on university study. If you teach a baby to include eating as a bedtime ritual, expect 4X the number of sleep issues than those without.

Congestion: The first months are troubled by narrow nasal passages &amp; exposure to dust, fragrences, smoke &amp; other irritants.Baby tries to flush these out of the nose  with mucous but this often ends as congestion &amp; produces rattling with breathing. The best rx is washing out the nose with saline &amp; suctioning the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment &amp; this will happen less.
