Come again????: If you need help with a deep wound see a DR. You may need stitches. Meanwhile, wash well with tap water. You might try steri-strips to close the wound. Are you current for tetanus immunization? Vaseline is OK but peroxide, iodine, alcohol, bacitracin, neosporin, etc all interfere with healing.

How much pain r u in: Most swollen joints do not "have" to be drained--it is done to improve mobility and to reduce the large amounts of pain that tend to accompany them. If no pain or other issue, gradual compression could address it. So, depends on pain tolerance and speed of accumulation. Then it's just a needle & you feel so much better! be sure to wrap it after so it doesn't reaccumulate!
