How much pain r u in: Most swollen joints do not "have" to be drained--it is done to improve mobility and to reduce the large amounts of pain that tend to accompany them. If no pain or other issue, gradual compression could address it. So, depends on pain tolerance and speed of accumulation. Then it's just a needle & you feel so much better! be sure to wrap it after so it doesn't reaccumulate!

Depends: Fever or chills or redness(infection), should be right away. If chronic or painless can wait.
