Effective, not ideal: Azithromycin can be effective in treating bacterial dental infections, but, interesting, may not be as effective as penicillin for the bacteria that typically live in the mouth.    Also, there are oxygen-sensitive bacteria that thrive only in deep, enclosed spaces like an abscess. Treating these little buggers requires an additional antibiotic like Flagyl.

would taking amoxicillin, doxycycline, azithromycin and bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) ds, in a row, cure an infected tooth or wld my white cell count still b elevated? tks!

Infected tooth: Teeth become infected for a reason. The cause has to be eliminated in addition to antibiotic therapy. Both are required to eliminate the infection. Your own dentist can determine cause, treat properly and discuss proper antibiotic therapy. This cannot be done over the internet.

Multiple medications: It would probably be best just to be on one antibiotic, if possible, to take care of both situations. I would discuss this issue both with your dentist and your physician. It would be their call based upon your specific medical and dental situation what would be best for you.

Told?: In this era of social media, "told" means so may things. Please get it evaluated to make sure you have a treatable bacterial infection and (if so) your doc will give you a prescription for a fresh antibiotic appropriate to your situation. Not all pain is infection related so my advice is to actually address the problem with your wisdom teeth as even a round of abx really only abates symptoms.

was given hydrocodone for tooth that needs root canal. yesterday was diagnosed with pneumonia and give zpack. is it still safe to take the hydrocodone?

Caution : Hydrocodone can depress your breathing so check with the physician who diagnosed the pneumonia before taking any more. You need to get the root canal started so you won't need the painkiller.

upper back tooth extracted 2days ago. on zythromycin(zpack)but sinusesr bothering me.what decongestant can i take that will not have cardiac effects?

None: All decongestants, because of their chemical action will have a stimulatory effect on the heart and blood vessels.  Other non medical methods like netti pot or mucolytics like Mucinex (guaifenesin) may help but technically are not decongestants.

: You have a bad infection.  There is a simple surgical principle which should guide you.  "Never let the sun go down on undrained puss!"
Sometimes you just need to take the next step and call a different dentist who can help you right away.  Even though it may cost more you will be better off i the long run. Puss must be drained now!

Varies because: Three things required to treat infected teeth are antibiotics, removing the cause of the infection and your body's defense mechanisms. While an effective antibiotic takes 24 to 48 hours to 'work', how quickly swelling, pain, and the infection become under control varies greatly. Your own dentist needs to treat and closely monitor these situations.

my boyfriend just started taking penicillin for an infected tooth and i am severely allergic are there any precautions i should take?

No: As long as you do not ingest the penicillin you will  be fine.
