It all depends: Swelling after a root canal should be a very rare occurence, and should be monitored very cosely.  Antibiotics can be helpful in reducing the swelling, but 3-7 days can be required.  You should at least consider that the root canal is ineffective, or did not address the source of the swelling.  Request that you be monitored by your dentist that did the root canal or see an endodontist.

Can't generalize: Swelling in your hand is not likely to be related to the root canal. Depending on where your facial swelling is the same may be true there. We don't always use antibiotics when treating root canals of teeth so you really need to have your facial swelling evaluated by your treating dentist and your hand swelling looked at by your primary care provider. Swelling lasts as long as there is inlammation

A : A differential in pressure between the sinuses and the atmosphere most certainly can cause pain and headaches. Allergy sufferers will attest to that.

Often, sinus pain will also manefest itself as a toothache on the maxillay (upper) posterior teeth. It is the way your brain is interpreting pain impulses. Can't tell sight unseen if you have any problems with your teeth, but if your teeth check out without a problem, then it is most likely your sinuses.

Call dentist: Call the dentist who did the root canal and inform him you have pain and swelling.  He should tell you what you need to do.  He needs to know that you have discomfort.

Depends on the level: Of presenting infection or a secondary infection.  Let your dentist know so appropriate measures / antibiotics / i ;d ...  Can be taken.  Typically this doesnt happen.  Hope this helps.

Numbness: This is trauma to the nerve at time of injection.  this may last for quite sometime because the blood supply to nerves is minimal.  Hot compresses, massaging the area and the use of tens unit will speed up the recovery time.
