Numbness: This is trauma to the nerve at time of injection. this may last for quite sometime because the blood supply to nerves is minimal. Hot compresses, massaging the area and the use of tens unit will speed up the recovery time.

Post-op: You had an infection and micro-surgery. Some swelling is to be anticipated. Numbness may be due to the swelling or the injection. Give it 48 hours from the time of treatment. Apply cold compresses 1st day, warm compresses 2nd day. Take all prescribed meds exactly as directed. If problem does not begin to resolve by the 48 hour mark, call your Dentist.

Numbness: You should call the dentist who is treating you and ask if this is to be expected or if there is something wrong and if you need to be seen. The numbness can be from one of many causes. Some will resolve on their own while other pose a concern.
