Liver damage: The liver problems come from the Acetaminophen (tylenol) in the hydro condone. .  New recommendations are 3, 000mg per day of acetaminophen, down from 4, 000mg.  The damage is real and can be non-reversible.

It doesn't kill your: Liver.  The Acetaminophen that is part of all currently available hydrocodone-containing pills (from 325 mg to up to 1000 mg) is what damages the liver. People who are trying to get high, or to feed an opiate dependency, may use 30 to 40 pills per day, and are therefore getting 12 or more grams of acetaminophen, which can cause massive liver damage. Alcohol consumption makes this even more toxic.

No, not necessarily: Oxycodone can also affect your liver. It can cause muscle spasms in your GI tract, including spasms of the sphincter of oddi, the opening of canals that lead from your liver ; pancreas into your small intestine. This can cause further injury to your liver.  Drug levels can build up in your system, if u have prior damage. U should be followed closely by your dr. ; a pain management specialist.

Yes to liver problem: Hydrocodone when in combination with tylenol (acetaminophen) can be injurious to liver. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is the culprit in this regard and the guidelines are that the ingested tylenol (acetaminophen) quantity should not exceed 4 gm/day. I am not aware of any known tylenol (acetaminophen) injuries to the kidneys.

Liver safety: If you take the medication as directed by the dentist and do not take any extra Tylenol (acetaminophen) there should not be a problem.  The doses of Tylenol (acetaminophen) in this medication has  been adjusted downward to add an additional margin of safety.

Your physician is : The best person to evaluate and guide you on medication. However, if on medication chronically,  depending on the medications and medical history, routine blood testing should be done periodically to assess status of various organ systems and use of the medications.

Yes. Can take them : At the same time.  Caution is always advised with multiple medications.  They are both metabolized through the liver and too many medications going through the liver can cause a "traffic jam", but the occasional hydrocodone shouldn't overwhelm the system.  Take care.

Ck Meds w/Doctor: Please check with your personal physician if you have or think you have liver damage prior to stopping medications or starting new ones. If no contraindications exist and if taken as directed, under doctor&#x27;s advice, Acetaminophen may be appropriate. Hydrocodone can have some side effects. Check with your doctor about any possibility of an NSAID for pain ; if appropriate for your condition.
