The : The swelling takes time to resolve but the time it takes to see your final result will depend on the amount of fat removed. A smaller amount will take less time to resolve as compared to larger amounts over more surface area.

The : The amount of swelling after any surgery can vary quite a bit depending on how extensive the procedure is. The swelling is usually that bad, but this is all relative. Ido find that wearing the compression chin strap dressing after surgery help clear the tissue swelling faster than if you don't wear it.

does massage help with swelling and faster healing after a body lift? i've heard that some people get lymphatic massages after liposuction to speed healing and reduce swelling. does it help after a body lift as well?

There : There are no peer-reviewed long term studies that verify this, but there are some smaller studies that demonstrate benefit.  If you see a licensed massage therapist there may be some benefit.

how long does it take before all the swelling is gone after chin liposuction? my doctor said i'd look normal again within 3 or 4 weeks. does that mean all the swelling will be gone at that point?

Most : Most of the bruising and swelling subsides after 7-10 days. If you take it easy, keep your head elevated and use ice packs, swelling can be minimized. After the initial healing period, there may be some residual swelling but you should be sociable.

If : If you are only a few days post op, then some swelling is to be expected. As your body heals, it is crucial that you eat a nutritious diet, or your wound healing can be delayed. It is prudent for you to call your doctor to advise that you are experiencing a lot of swelling and to get advise about your diet.
Ambulating and drinking a lot of water can help. You need to report this swelling to you doctor to ensure this is not an infection.

Laser : Laser liposuction is more invasive than traditional liposuction, despite marketing hype that implies otherwise. To begin with, both involve tiny incisions, infusion of numbing solution, and suction of fat with instruments called cannulas. Both types of lipo can be done with any type of anesthesia. When the laser is used, it is also inserted under the skin and laser energy applied, which can cause burns and scarring. So by definition it is a more invasive procedure with additional risks. In some cases there can be a slight increase in skin tightening but not enough to be clinically significant for most patients.

Liposuction : Liposuction works better on thinner people. Of course, you still need to have enough fat in the areas of concern for liposuction to have an effect. Stubborn, disproportionate areas of fat in someone close to their ideal weight are ideal for the procedure. There is lower risk of gaining weight after liposuction which can negatively affect your results.

Liposuction has the ability to selectively remove fat deposits exactly from the areas where we want it removed. This is different than weight loss, where the fat goes away following your genetic road map.
