Weight loss: Sometimes quite awhile. The ill teenager often tries to hide the weight loss, wearing bulky clothes, covering arms and legs so that weight loss is covered over.  When parents observe this behavior they should insist on finding the truth and then take their child to their physician for diagnosis and treatment.

Anorexia: Takes a while, due to secretiveness of the eating patterns, until it gets severe & obvious enough that it cannot be concealed anymore, or when starts to affect physical health & appearance in obvious manner.

Perfect diet: If there is such a thing as a "perfect" diet, it is a diet that is low in saturated fat, high in fresh fruits and vegetables, low in sugar and simple carbohydrates, low in processed foods, and absent in fast foods. Mix all of this with an abundance of exercise. There is no name for this "perfect" diet, but this is as perfect as it gets.

More info is needed: You need to eat!  if you are not being seen by a physician, you must make an appointment for a complete history and physical today or tomorrow and you must eat and drink until you are seen.  If you have pain preventing your eating, you should go to an emergency room!  please listen!

? Chronic fatigue: Is that what you are referring to?  Suggest you see a doctor.  That much weight loss and loss of appetite has another cause.  Please go get evaluated soon.

Forgive them: The key is getting you well. Nobody grows up in a perfect environment. You are almost an adult, and you can decide in the future whether you will remain emotionally close with your parents. But your own experience has taught you something of humankind. All of us have episodes of DENIAL. I know I have. I'm sorry your illness was not diagnosed sooner. Understand the past, look to the future.

i am a 54 yr old female, with documented anorexia since teens.  was prescribed adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) for other problems.  was taken off because of weight loss. is ?

Makes sense: If you have a hx of an eating disorder and you were put on a stimulant for co-morbid ADD/ADHD and you are losing weight, which can be a side effect of the medication, and your underlying eating disorder worsening then it makes sense they take you off the stimulant.  Can try Strattera (atomoxetine) which is second line for ADD/ADHD but resembles SSRI's in chemical make-up and may help with depression/anxiety.
