Depends: It depends on how severe and longstanding this problem has been, and how comprehensive treatment has been in addressing it. Achilles bursitis often require antiinflammatories, stretching exercises, shoe modifications or changes, physical therapy, etc. It is not unusual for this to take weeks or months to fully resolve.

Generally 1-2 weeks: It can just be days, but usually 1 to 2 weeks, if the joint is not used too much and the physician directions about ice and antiinflammatories are followed.

Heel pain + PF: 9/10 times, heel pain is caused by plantar fasciitis. Bursitis is rarely the cause of heel pain. Bursitis may occur on the back of the ankle, most commonly called retrocalcaneal bursitis. This is caused by friction to the back of the ankle by poor fitting footwear, tight or weak calf muscles and/or is associated with an achilles tendon problem.

Achilles' tendon: If plantar fasciitis or,other pathology is not found, I would check the Achilles' tendon insertion, and have your gait assessed. You may have an accentuated heel strike that irritates this area. Orthotics should be used to help,off weight this area

Common: If you had 'bursitis' of the heel injections may not help and if you had a component of plantar fascitis then PT( 'coke- bottle' stretches etc.) is very commonly effective..Best of Luck!

following a trauma i am having retrocalcaneal bursitis. i have taken nsaids like diclofenac,ibuprofen but the pain is still there.also i feel a kind of bump under my heel when i walk?

Podiatrist : Would suggest seeing a podiatrist for further recommendations. Depending on exam, a comprehensive plan will be needed including procedures, such an injection and/ or use of shoes and insoles.

Could be. : You describe symptoms of snapping hip syndrome but can not tell without a thorough history and physical exam.  With your symptoms and  description seems like you should see a doctor and get a treatment plan.
