Check w/doctor: Metformin must be 2x/day to be effective. Most effective dose is 2000/d. Increase in 500 mg steps each week to avoid side effects.

Eat first, split dos: Make sure you are taking it on a empty stomach. Eat first, then take it. And see if splitting the dose up helps.

None?: Thyroxine rightly used has no side effects.  Metformin is generally well-tolerated but may make you feel strange; i'm told no 2 people have the same effects.  Coumadin (warfarin) may make you bruise more easily and you should avoid tackle football, but if you bloodwork stays good, you will probably experience no side effects.  Glad you're proactive about your health.

SGLT2 inhibitors: Hi. It's unfortunate that some folks just can't take metformin because of GI side effects, but it seems your doc did the right thing by stopping it. Invokana and Farxiga are both exciting new drugs in the SGLT2 category. Like metformin, in monotherapy, they can't cause hypoglycemia. Invokana can lead to a little more daily glucose excretion than Farxiga, and Invokana can be used with sl lower eGFR

Metformin: You can take them all at once if they're the along  acting version of it. If they are not, then to achieve the best results, you'll need to take them twice a day.

Metformin: Check out http://www.drugs.com/metformin.html for info re metformin. GI issues are most common side effect of metformin. Ask your doc about starting on just 500mg daily for a while before slowly increasing up to 1,000mg twice daily. Side effects usually fade w/time. Bottom line, work closely w/prescribing doc.

Ok: Metformin may stimulate ovulation.  It can help with weight loss. It can cause abdominal pain and nausea. I may affect your electrolytes. See a doctor for guidance.

Almost Certainly!!!: In the vast majority of cases PCOS is part of an insulin resistance syndrome with insulin resist central to the cond, making PCOS a prediabetic state, a lipid disorder state &amp; a risk factors for heart disease. Metformin has been shown to be beneficial in these potential comps. Since insulin resistance is part of the cause it very often helps w/ovulation as well. Just be sure the dx is correct!

doc has advised me to take glucophage (metformin) gor 3 months to regulate my hormones and aid in weight loss but i m wary. will there be long term side effects?

No: Metformin is excellent at reducing Insulin resistance, particularly when combined with diet, exercise, and weight loss. Most effective dose is 2000 md/d (1000 twice/day), but you need to work up to that dose gradually.
