When should i increase dose on metformin i'm taking 500mg with no side effects. have to get to 1500mgs don't want to get the horrible side effects?

Check w/doctor: Metformin must be 2x/day to be effective. Most effective dose is 2000/d. Increase in 500 mg steps each week to avoid side effects.

Gradual: If you have no problem with the 500 mg, try taking a pill with dinner and if ok in 1 week, increase it by 500 mg more. It should be taken twice per day.
