have history acute sinusitis.  rec'd prednisone im in 4-14 for this+allergy.  have fever past 6 days (+now), no gi upset.  curious if im is masking sinusit?

Possible but: Prednisone reduces inflammation and thus may indeed mask the infection. On the other hand, it might also have reduce the mucosal swelling which had been obstructing the sinus drainage.  The infection often clears after drainage has been established. If the pusey drainage resumed after a few days, then you know that it was from masking. If not, then you are clear.

should i be concerned/seeing dr as i spray painted 6 months ago with no mask and today i noticed the black paint when i cleaned my ears? ive had sinusitis a couple of times since but could be due to hay fever?

my 2.5 year old son has been running a fever since thur.took him to the doctor on fri, diagnosis sinusitis.  prescribed augmentin/co-amoxiclav. no appetite since sat, threw up 3 times since then, now have red rash on chest, back and bum?

Strong medication: Augmentin is a very strong medication. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, upset stomach and rash. Talk to your prescribing Dr. and have them take a look at the rash. Probably not enough to discontinue the med, but you want to be sure. Make sure you give the meds with food to minimize the digestive irritation. Watch for lip, eye and face swelling.

been having on you my headaches from sinus confirmed ct scan. they strike my right side of the head and right eye, and feel sick. no fever. 8+ months on and off, tylenol breaks up pattern. this migraine or chronic sinusitis? arent severe headache?

: You  may well  have chronic sinusitis, but this  could merely be a trigger for migraine headaches.  A detailed history could sort this out and focus upon the more likely approach to control or prevent the headaches.  A local neurologist, or a virtual consult here could expand upon the spectrum. Suspect a virus: If you are not responding to antibiotics, then it's quite possible you have a virus. Hopefully your doctor is following you for this - since something needs to be done. On occasion, you can get a 'resistant' bacteria that is not affected by the antibiotics, but I'm quite suspicious of a virus - and for that there isn't any targeted treatment, just symptom relief. Hopefully you can call back MD.

Sinusitis: Sinusitis can be caused by bacteria or fungus.  It can also occur if something blocks the natural drainage tracts within our heads like a polyp.  You should see your GP or pediatrician.  They may prescribe antibiotics.  They may also refer you to an otolaryngologist (ENT).  In the meantime...hot showers or steam.  Netti pot could help as well.

Sinus infection: It might be infected again (or an original infection might not have completely resolved) but there is also a strong likelihood that the tissues are congested and causing pressure and pain. Do you have fever or colored nasal mucous?  I suggest that you contact your doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

Most viral: Yes, most cases of sinusitis are viral.  Typical symptoms lat 5-7 days before slowly resolving.  Indications that you may have a bacterial infection are fevers &gt;100, severe sinus pain, symptoms longer than 10 days or initial improvement before worsening of your symptoms.  Obviously, see your doctor if you believe you have bacterial infection, but they can also help with meds for viral symptoms.

Yes: Acute sinusitis by causing inflammation in the nose and nasal cavity can secondarily cause swelling in the eustachian tube.  This eustachian tube swelling can create negative pressure in the middle ear and lead to ear pain.

Be healthy: There are no "shortcuts" to viral infections. The best approach is to get plenty of rest, exercise regularly, and eat a well-balanced diet to give your immune system all the tools it needs to do its job.
