Suspect a virus: If you are not responding to antibiotics, then it's quite possible you have a virus. Hopefully your doctor is following you for this - since something needs to be done. On occasion, you can get a 'resistant' bacteria that is not affected by the antibiotics, but I'm quite suspicious of a virus - and for that there isn't any targeted treatment, just symptom relief. Hopefully you can call back MD.

Tonsillitis: Sinus symptoms, increasing throat soreness and now tonsillitis, all while being on antibiotics for 5 days suggests a viral infection and these do not respond to antibiotics. Mononucleosis, if you're a youngster, is a possibility. It's best to be reexamined, cultured and some blood work done in order to make a correct diagnosis. Be specific: Fever? How high? Cultures? Blood tests? Xrays? EXACTLY which 2 antibiotics? Why 2? Checked for mononucleosis? See a DR, probably best see ENT specialist.
