how long can i wait to go back to gymnastics after breaking my ankle?

8 weeks: It depends on the fracture and return is a gradual process.  I think 8 weeks is safe, but you may not be able to do everything.  I would think you should be unrestricted at 3 months.

Sprained ankle: Once the swelling subsides and she can walk she can return to gymnastics wearing a brace.

Hypermobility: Impacts all ligament, tendons and joints. What's happening is your disc are narrowing the scoliosis becomes more noticeable.

Sprain: Would recommend a visit with her pcp or foot/ankle specialist to evaluate the injured ankle and review xrays and insure no fractures.  Treatment should include rest and ice and immobilization, as well as elevation to control swelling.

Ankle impingement: Consider orthopedic foot &amp; ankle specialist for exam &amp; MRI. Further options include PT, injections, laser therapy, purified omega, arthroscopic excision of impingement. Define the specific impingement prior to any surgery.

Go to podiatrist: A podiatrist would be able to examine your feet and determine if the motion in the ball of the foot is creating more pressure at the metatarsals.  If so, there are padding/strapping that can be applied to your foot while training that can help with this.

i've had foot pain along the left side of my right foot for 3 weeks now, it just came on quite bad, when i was vaulting at gymnastics, it's causing me to get sad and upset as i can't do tumbling or vaulting bc of it, should i get it checked out?

3 week painful foot: Absolutely it should be seen by an orthopaedic  surgeon now. You may have a fracture which will worsen if it is not treated

Sounds like it: Easy to diagnose with a bone scan or mri.

Depends: This depends on whether the surgery involved a fusion.  If just surgery for a disc herniation, 12 weeks post op is the usual time assuming symptoms were relieved.  If a fusion was involved, then one has to wait for the bone to have healed and this would be assessed by your surgeon.

Grade 1 sprain: Once the swelling is reduced and she is able to walk, she can slowly return to gymnastics. A brace would be helpful. It may take 3-4 weeks for total recovery.
