How long should one wait to return to gymnastics after back surgery?

Depends: This depends on whether the surgery involved a fusion. If just surgery for a disc herniation, 12 weeks post op is the usual time assuming symptoms were relieved. If a fusion was involved, then one has to wait for the bone to have healed and this would be assessed by your surgeon.

Depends: Definitely depends on the type of surgery performed. Some back surgeries have little or no restrictions postoperatively. Many have restrictions on physical activities for 6-8 weeks. You should definitely ask your surgeon. Thanks for the question.
