Knee replacement:  After the replacement does not always look good, sometimes we have this problem that we can reduce with anti-inflammatory I recommend that a doctor check you for proper treatment

R.I.C.E: Initially after surgery, rx pain medication will be required.  Afterwards, nsaid's and tylenol (acetaminophen) will help, along with ice and elevation.  Gentle excercises for rom will also help with the swelling.  Hang in there, it will get better week by week.

Work with surgeon: Pain after total knee replacement varies from patient to patient. Most orthopaedic surgeons use a "multimodality" pain management approach, using different types of medications, not just narcotics, to help with pain control.  A combination of tylenol, (acetaminophen) Celebrex or mobic, and Lyrica can be used with an oral narcotic medication like norco.  Remember that ice is an important tool for pain management.

Oh my!: Very serious.  The location of the infection is very important.  If it is in your new joint, it may be impossible.  In addition to taking your antibiotics right, it is important to make sure the rest of your body is able to fight infections well--e.g. proper nutrition, extra zinc, vitamins A,C, and D3 supplements,blood sugar and white blood count well controlled.
