Accepted Answer

No.: Odds are no ! surgery should always be a last option. There are many reasons for nerve pain radiating into an arm or leg. Most "pinched nerves" can be treated conservatively with physical therapy, medication, or injection.

Poss. Radiculopathy: what part of the shoulder? Along the inner boarder down back to tip of shoulder blade? Quality of pain? Burning, pins and needles, electricity, deep dull, shooting? Weakness in the upper arm? 
Need more information.   
Can do over door cervical traction. To help relieve symptoms but need physical exam first,  possible cervical MRI or may need to look at your shoulder as a cause for the pain.

Depends: Question re: peripheral arm weakness ; pain fr. Nerve damage is ambiguous whether disorders preceded or followed upon surgery. If existed prior then release of impingement should take no more than six months to reflect significant yet possibly incomplete healing. If disorders worsened post surgery then concern arises for medical misadventure ; iatrogenic injury that will likely remain permanent.

Talk to surgeon: Return to the surgeon for a follow-up. They have your records and can best discover what has happened. It's too late for this issue - but learn from it that at that 6 mth point you'd have been wise to seek follow-up. It's part of any Tx - especially surgery. Best!

can there be an allergic reaction to titanium when used as a plate in the neck after surgery?

Probably not: Titanium allergy is very rare. The manufacturer of the plate will provide at no cost a "patch test kit" to your allergist, who can then test you to see if you have developed an allergy to titanium. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for  allergy to an implanted metal other than to remove it.

will i need to wear a chip strap after a neck lift? i've read that some doctors don't think compression is very useful after the first 24 hours after surgery. is it the same for chin straps after a neck lift?

I : I think it's pretty common to have patients wear a chin strap for more than 24 hours after a necklift. I have my patients wear it for at least a week to help support the tissues and get rid of tissue swelling.

Colloidal silver: Is of no proven clinical benefit. Safety concerns about the accumulation of silver. I do not know of any clinical need for it

Several : Several techniques are used to improve the contour of the neck.  The specific technique, or combination thereof, will be customized to your specific condition.  During a face and neck lift, the skin is redraped and the excess is removed.  The muscles are not removed, they will be repositioned and tightened with sutures, and may or may not be divided in the neck.  This surgery will typically result in a tight feeling and some numbness but this will resolve over time.  Your medical problems will need to be optimized before surgery to minimize the risk of complications.  The results are long lasting, but are not forever.  The longevity of the procedure is highly dependent on the quality of your tissue.

No specific suppl: Follow surgeon's instruction. No specific meds or supplements are needed or proven better than the others to take before and after the procedure. Health diet. Do not smoke or drink alcohol.

immediately after surgery, i have significant pain in my neck and arm. physio thought it to be pts. mri shows a solitary brightness at the t1 level (what is this?), but no other intervention is required. i am still in pain. what could be the cause?

: You did not give enough info for a correct response. What surgery did you have and how long have you had the pain ? A solitary brightness at T1 spine may or may not be significant but its interpretation requires medical history. A lesion at T1 can cause lower neck and arm pain. You may need to be evaluated by a neurologist or a spine orthopedist if the arm pain has persisted for weeks. Take care!
