Can there be an allergic reaction to titanium when used as a plate in the neck after surgery?

Probably not: Titanium allergy is very rare. The manufacturer of the plate will provide at no cost a "patch test kit" to your allergist, who can then test you to see if you have developed an allergy to titanium. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for allergy to an implanted metal other than to remove it.

Yes: But it is very unusual. Nickel and cobalt are much more common.
