Rubbing alcohol: With an eye dropper mix a solution of half rubbing alcohol and half clean water.  Drop or two in your ear, the alcohol will help evaporate the water.

Decongestant: You can start by taking an over the counter decongestant to clear the fluid. Know that these can raise your blood pressure, so if you have hypertension, it is preferrable that you talk to your doctor for other options.

Possible eustachian: tube fluid ( serous otitis media ) or inflammation, usually viral in nature. If not hypertensive you can use OTC nasal decongestant ( generic Afrin/Dristan), antihistamine ( Benadryl, Claritin or Zyrtec), followed by nasal saline nasal lavage, Wait 10-15 minutes and if not alleric, use Flonase or NsaCort) - nasal steroid mist.  If these steps are unsuccessful after 1 week, see your physician.

: I believe that your regimen is a good one if you have no pathology in your ear canal. Otherwise your ENT specialist will have to advise you further.

Probably wax: The most common cause of this would be wax impaction in the ear canal that has trapped water behind it. Another cause may be fluid in the middle ear because of a recent cold or eustachian tube blockage - either way this needs to be evaluated by an ENT physician.

Affected side down.: Tilt your head so that the congested ear is closest to the floor. "Clear your ears" by holding your nose &amp; swallowing, or moving your jaw forward, or simply just waiting &amp; letting gravity take its course. You may feel some of the peroxide water (liquid) run out the ear canal or go down your throat; in either case, your hearing should improve quickly. If it doesn't, there's always your nearby ENT.

Otitis externa: Some people develop chronic itchy ears due to inflammation of the external canal skin. This is often exacerbated by Q-tip use, frequent cleaning with Debrox, alcohol, or hydrogen peroxide.A little wax is helpful, as it is a moisturizer for the canal and also repels water and other irritants. See an ENT doctor as there are some medications that can help reverse the chronic symptoms.
