Check their list: Your insurer will likely have a list of physicians taking their insurance posted on line.Check this &amp; start the process of starting over.These meds are closely monitored by the feds and a physician can lose their license and or their ability to prescribe these meds if they do not have a proper evaluation including their own history/physical &amp; tests on file.

See doctor: If you suspect you have adhd, you should consult your doctor or clinic. This is a neurobiologic disorder that cannot be diagnosed by a layperson or google. The decision on how to treat is based on a thorough evaluation by a well trained doctor for each individual patient. The cost depends on the individual doctor or clinic. Insurance frequently covers this condition poorly, anyway.

Don't think so: Not sure i fully understand but in general i'd say health care decisions are best made with your doctor(s) and family members-the people who have your health as their priority. Insurance companies often have profit for the company as their first priority. Even if they say otherwise, there is always the potential that  what's good for ur health & what's good for bottom line aren't the same.

Psychiatry consult. : I imagine each insurance company is different, however making an appointment with a psychiatrist known to be skilled in add diagnosis and treatment should be sufficient. Your insurance company should cover a visit for an initial psychiatry consultation.

what is the cost of the neuropsychology test for add in massachusetts if my insurance won't cover it?

Not sure: Why do you think you need neuropsych testing? The diagnosis of adhd is based on criteria from a diagnostic manual called the dsm iv. It is not necessary to take a test, not only that- neuropsych testing is a special type of testing, which would not really be indicated anyway for adhd. Neuropsych testing is expensive and could be over $1000. You should try and make an appt with a psychiatrist.

Call State Med Socie: I personally am not aware of any specific md that meets that criteria, but you can get guidance from the local chapter of the medical society (state and local).  They can direct you to a list of names or refer you to another resource.  Good luck.

: State medical boards require an existing patient relationship, a recent exam with vital signs &amp; a retrievable record before prescribing meds. Failure to do so can result in loss or restriction of license. ADD meds are often controlled substances under tighter scrutiny by the feds. This site answer health questions. It does not offer scripts/notes or other direct patient care.

If : If add is the only problem and you have been stable on the same medication on the same dosage for a while, then usually this can be followed by a general or family practice physician.  However, there are some general and family physicians who do not prescribe psychotropic medications. So, as you are looking for your new doctor, inquire as to whether he or she is willing to prescribe simple  (not requiring multiple psychiatric medications) psychiatric medications.  Good luck.

how long can i wait to have a bridge put in after an extracted tooth? i am having a broken tooth extracted next week and plan on adding a bridge. problem is, my dental insurance doesn't kick in until august 1st so i'd need to pay all out of pocket.  can i

There : There should not be any major treatment problems waiting until august to start the bridge for your missing tooth.  The adjacent and opposing teeth will not have time to move into the space left by the extracted tooth and the extraction site will have time to heal.  Have you considered an implant?

What may be of concern though is that your new insurance may have a" pre-existing condition" clause that may absolve them from providing reimbursement for procedures done to replace a tooth that had been extracted prior to the insurance policy taking effect.  I would check on the terms of the policy.  Your dentist may be able to help you in this matter.

can my family med doc prescribe a narcotic?  i have add/adhd and was taking ateril , but now self employed so no insurance. can he prescribe?

Not narcotic: Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) is not a narcotic. It is addictive, but it's like 'speed'. Yes, some PCPs do prescribe it for those conditions. Did it help you? How? If you can really impress your doctor w/ descriptions of what you're like with it and without it, they might. There may be other ways to handle it w/out the possible physical harm and addiction. Talk about it.
